Color Matching StratArena - FFXIV
Some additional explanations:
Green Triangle- the safe (non-exploding) trio of tethered bombs is indicated in the raidplan by a lime-green line connecting them. Exploding bombs are indicated in the raidplan with large orange aoes.
Stacked Triangles- a spawn pattern in which two non-intersecting triangles appear to be stacked, with the slightly larger one on top. The top triangle will always be the non-exploding "safe" triangle.
Overlapping Triangles- the other possible spawn pattern, in which two intersecting triangles appear, with one longer and taller than the other. Also sometimes called the "Star" pattern in pf for its resemblance to a 5 pointed star. In this spawn pattern, the long, tall triangle will always be the non-exploding "safe" triangle.
All possible spawn patterns are shown in slides 2-9. TN north is never relative N.
Breaking chain- breaking chain requires players to stretch it ~28y in a 30y diameter arena. It is impossible to break chain without chain players going directly opposite to each other. Players with chain must start stacked mid and wait for the tether debuff to appear before moving to their intercard spots. Recommend sprint.
Color matching- Setting up waymarks so that true north intercards opposite each other have the same color waymark allows chain players to use the colors of the waymarks to identify which safe spots are directly opposite each other immediately.
Additionally, the pair of players not going to rel N can use the color of the rel N intercard and process of elimination to identify which safe spots they should go to (they go to the intercards with waymarks of the other color).
This strat is functionally identical in execution to the EU markerless strat that relies on checking the bomb overlapped by 2 staff aoes.
Color matching makes the identification process slightly faster by eliminating having to wait for staffs to spawn and telegraph their aoe. You should be able to immediately identify what to do when bombs trios tether into triangles shortly after spawn.
However, as execution is identical, learning either strat to resolve presents 1 is viable.
